Educational Visit to the Conservation Office Laboratories
On 23 September 2026, 30 HKUST Chemistry undergraduate students and department staff visited the Conservation Office’s Laboratories at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum. The guided tour encompassed five specialized facilities: the Fumigation Room, Paper Laboratory, Artifacts Laboratory, Textiles Laboratory, and Research Laboratory. During the visit, students observed advanced scientific examination techniques and state-of-the-art analytical equipment in action. This experience offered valuable insights into cultural heritage preservation, successfully bridging classroom theory with real-world applications while highlighting the vital role of chemistry in this interdisciplinary field.
