The Department of Chemistry successfully hosted the international conference “When Ultrafast Spectroscopy Meets AI: Challenges and Opportunities” from 5 to 7 Dec 2025, organized by Prof. Tengteng CHEN.

Prof. Jianzhen YU was honoured at the HKUST Faculty Recognition Ceremony 2025 for her outstanding academic achievements as RGC Senior Research Fellow 2025/26 and securing major funding from the RGC Theme-based Research Scheme 2025/26.

Prof. Jianwei SUN was honoured at the HKUST Faculty Recognition Ceremony 2025 for his outstanding academic achievements for receiving the 2025 Croucher Senior Research Fellowship award.

Mr. Yangyi GU, a Year 4 PhD student under the supervision of Prof. Jianwei SUN, received the Junior Asian Core Program Poster Presentation Award at the 13th Junior International Conference on Cutting-Edge Organic Chemistry in Asia, held on 27 Nov 2025.

Prof. He YAN was identified as a 2025 Highly Cited Researcher in the Engineering category by Clarivate Analytics.

Prof. Jacky Wing Yip LAM was identified as a 2025 Highly Cited Researcher in the field of Chemistry by Clarivate Analytics.

Prof. Ryan Tsz-Kin KWOK was identified as a 2025 Highly Cited Researcher in the Cross-Field category by Clarivate Analytics.

Prof. Jianzhen YU was awarded as Senior Research Fellow under the Research Grants Council (RGC) Senior Research Fellow Scheme (SRFS) 2025/26.

Prof. Jianwei SUN has been awarded the title of Chair Professor with effect from 1 July 2025.

A project led by Prof. YU Jianzhen, Head and Chair Professor of Department of Chemistry, receives HK$53.29 million funding from the RGC’s Theme-based Research Scheme 2025/26 to develop a chemical weather observation network in the Greater Bay Area.
